This is sporterized 30-06 caliber model 1917 Enfield with a Tasco 2.5-8 variable scope.  The stock is walnut with cheekpiece and in very good conditon with the usual small dings and light scratches from use in the woods.  The barrel has been shortened to approximately 22 1/2" and the bore is in excellent condition. The metal work is smooth and the blue shiny and in good condition.  The trigger has been modified to single stage and the magazine follower 'ramped' to facilitate the closing of the bolt.  The receiver has been drilled and tapped on the right side for a peep or other receiver sight and a Redfield ramp and bead have been installed on the barrel.  This is a very nice hunting rifle in 30-06 caliber.
