This item is a U.S. MILITARY M1850 FIELD OFFICERS SWORD. The sword is in "relic" or "battlefield pick-up" condition with significant wear on the item due to time. The blade is whole but has only a single "A" stamping visible on the flat of the blade. The sharkskin and wire wrapping on the handle is gone with only the bare wood left in its place. The guard has an engraving on it that has been faded over time but seems to have been presented to a "Company B - 114th Regiment" but it is hard to know for sure.
