An offshoot of Remington Arms, The Remington Typewriter Company was sold in 1886 leaving it's parent company. In 1927 Remington Typewriters would join with Rand Kardex Bureau, the largest office supply company in the country. Forming the new company of Remington Rand, Remington's typewriter would find their roots again at the start of the 2nd World War. Shifting production from typewriters to helping Colt and the U.S. Military fill contracts for Colt's infamous M1911 patent.
