This Winchester Model 94 Lone Star commemorative was manufactured in 1970. Celebrating the United States biggest state of the lower 48, annexed in 1845. The 28th states annexation as American territory was the precursor to the following war at the southern border. Mexico refusing to accept succession of the Texas state in 1836, as part of the Treaties of Velasco, being recognized as the Republic of Texas.
This lone star shows it's legacy with symbolic engravings and figures. It's inlaid stock medallion depicts Texan heroes such as Sam Houston, William Barrett Travis, David Crockett, Stephen F. Austin, and James Bowie. Top strap engraved with "Under Six Flags" referring to Texas's rough history of territorially ownership from Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, it's annexation into the United States Union, then the crumbling into the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War.
This Winchester Model 94 features a 20" half octagon / half round barrel, brass finish, full length magazine tube, side loading gate, bladed front sight and rear elevation sight, saddle loop, and has a smooth walnut stock and forearm.
