WW 1 vintage Colt 1911 / MODLE OF 1911 U.S. ARMY pistol with Savage Munitions slide in .45 ACP.
The serial number on the Colt frame dates this gun to WW1 and bears the acceptance stamp of General Gilbert H. Stewart. Later the pistol was shipped back to Springfield Armory and refurbished /rebuilt with a slide manufactured by the Savage Munitions Company which was contracted to make pistols but never completed any prior to the end of the war.
Later, any completed parts were sent to Springfield and used in the arsenal refurbishment. At some point since then this pistol was refinished again with a commercial type finish with what appears to be correct pattern replacement grips.
Comes with a Colt marked magazine.
