For sale is a U.S. Army Springfield Model 1898 Krag-Jørgensen Rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, which was the first rifle issued in smokeless powder.
Serial number 387665 places production in 1902, among the final years of Krag manufacture. This example is in exceptional condition, retaining an all-original configuration with no alterations or sporterization. It features the correct 1901 rear sight, fully adjustable for windage and elevation, and the stock bears a sharp and correct 1901 cartouche.
The stock and handguard are particularly outstanding—showing crisp edges, clean cartouches, and a rich finish rarely found on Krags today. Metal components display an even, attractive patina with no signs of abuse. The bore, action, and mechanicals present and operate as expected for a collector-grade rifle.
This is a collector-grade rifle worthy of any Spanish-American War or pre-WWI U.S. military collection. A very strong example that would be difficult to improve upon.
Asking $1,700. Open to quality trades with resale value or collector appeal (broad / preferred examples). Will consider single-gun trades, multi-gun packages, or gun-plus-cash offers to equalize value.
