For sale is a U.S. Army Springfield Model 1899 Krag-Jørgensen Carbine, chambered in .30-40 Krag, which was the first rifle issued in smokeless powder.

This is a true carbine with all parts original and correct. Serial number 308915 dates to late 1901 production. It retains all the proper features for this configuration, including the 1901 Carbine rear sight, “C”-stamped front sight blade, and the correct headless cocking piece on the bolt. The bore shows strong rifling and the action is smooth and crisp.

The stock has been lightly refinished, but the original 1900 cartouche and “P” proof mark remain visible and are consistent with the serial range. Metal parts display an even patina, and all mechanical functions operate properly. This example balances originality and shootability — ideal for a collector who wants a legitimate carbine that can still be taken to the range.

Late-production Krags like this saw service near the end of the Spanish-American War era and the early Philippine Insurrection period, and they mark the final evolution of the Krag-Jørgensen in U.S. service.

Asking $1,800. Open to quality trades with resale value or collector appeal (broad / preferred examples). Will consider single-gun trades, multi-gun packages, or gun-plus-cash offers to equalize value.
