Based on the same concept as the SCAR SC, it is still a piston-driven 5.56 NATO-caliber platform but in a more compact variant that the SCAR 16S rifle.

The overall length of the handgun, with a chrome-lined free-floating 7.5-inch barrel, is 19.75 inches, which is shorter than the SC as doesn't have a stock to remain out of SBR territory but does have a vertical rear Picatinny rail with a QD sling cup. Using the same monolithic aluminum receiver design of the SCAR family, coupled with dual ambidextrous charging handles, the weight is listed as 5.65 pounds, which is almost a pound lighter than the SC. It uses a two-position user-adjustable gas regulator, which can come in handy.

FN is listing the SCAR 15P in four variants. This model is the FDE with a restricted (10-round) mag. Note the vert Pic rail on the end of the receiver and QD point for a single-point sling attachment.

At under 20 inches long, it is packable, and is the smallest SCAR made. FN notes it "is the ideal in-vehicle or in-home defense platform."

Note the non-reciprocating charging handle, which can be swapped left to right and has M1913 Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock for optics and accessories.
