This rifle is a very good condition Chinese Type 53 mosin that is all numbers matching and has been completely nickel plated. All the small parts are nickel plated minus the buttplate, stock support and caps and springs on the forend. There is no paperwork to confirm that this was a factory plating, however the rifle was manufactured in 1960 and bears no import marks. The rifle is also similar to known SKS and Type 56 AK "Honor Guard" nickel plated rifles in finish and style. There were several importers that imported and plated mosin nagants, but not before 1968 when marking requirements began on imported firearms. The lack of import markings and the manufacture date of the rifle means that this rifle was likely a Vietnam War Trophy bring back.
