It was the British Army's standard rifle until 1957. The Lee-Enfield takes its name from the designer of the rifle's bolt system, James Paris Lee, and the factory in which it was designed - the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield.  There are several variations available. What you are viewing here is a No. 4 MK1 and was manufactured from 1942 on. This rifle does have parts from several different plants. The proof marks state this was made at the Royal Ordnance Factory in Maltby, UK. The arrow marks are the British Governments acceptance marks. Early models used stamping information on the rifle receivers using punches which this rifle does have that aspect. Ample amount of grease to protect it, in good condition for its age.
