Heckler & Koch’s USP 9 Expert (Universal Self-loading Pistol) was originally designed for the American market and is now accepted internationally an accurate and reliable firearm. HK’s USP 9 controls are influenced by the Government Model 1911 pistol. A USP control, a combination safety and decocking lever, is quickly accessible and frame mounted unlike slide-mounted safeties.

The HK USP 9 Expert uses a modified Browning-type action and the USP recoil reduction system lowers recoil forces felt by the shooter. It also reduces recoil effects on the pistol components. Developed for the U.S. Special Operations System, this same recoil reduction system was tested and proven in the Mark 23 pistol. Insensitive to ammunition types, the USP recoil reduction system requires no special adjustment or maintenance. Its modular design and internal components allow the ambidextrous function of the control lever. Conversion from one trigger firing mode to another is possible, this includes combination double-action and single action (DA/SA) and double action only (DAO) modes.
