Krag-Jorgensen model 1898
This rifle appears to be a Springfield Armory, model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen rifle, which I believe is chambered in .30-40 Krag.
To the best of my knowledge, this rifle appears to be a "carbine cut down" that has likely been sporterized. The bore appears good and the action is smooth. The rifle has a magazine that is an attached box on the side. Cartridges are dropped into the box and the gate is closed. The rifle, I believe, holds 5 rounds. I have a limited knowledge base, but I believe that the hand-grip piece of wood has been added to the stock. The leather sling appears period correct but I am not a sling expert. The front sight is from a 1903 Springfield, which is typical of cut-down Krags. Despite not being in original condition, this will make a neat shooter and/or collector piece.
