Seen here is a very nice Lee Enfield No1 Mk3 manufactured in 1920 by the Lithgow factory in Australia. It fires the .303 British cartridge and holds ten rounds in a detachable magazine. The stock and some metal components have been replaced. The Lithgow factory only manufactured about 26,000 of these rifles in 1920, making this a hard to find Australian year of manufacture. Furthermore, this rifle is NOT import marked, so price is reflictive of that.

The Lee Enfield No1 Mk3, also known as the SMLE (Short Magazine Lee Enfield) is a bolt action rifle that was used by British and commonwealth forces during World War 1 and World War 2. Millions of these rifles were produced during the years of war but only about 26,000 or so Lithgow SMLE's were produced in 1920.
