This AR-15 has a 16” free-float barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO, so it can safely fire both 5.56 and .223 ammunition. The Durkin Precision barrel has a 1:8 twist, which is the optimal balance for firing both the 55 and 62 grain projectiles. (55 and 62 grain are by far the two most common projectiles used in 5.56 and .223 ammunition.) The barrel is SOCOM profile and has a carbine-length gas system. It is capped with a 3-chamber muzzle brake that also has two gas ports on the top to compensate for muzzle climb.

The rifle has a full-length Picatinny rail that extends along the entire top of the receiver to the end of the handguard, so that sights, scopes, and any other accessory can be located at the optimum position for the shooter. The handguard is genuine Guntech and made in the USA. It has KeyMod slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions of the front half for mounting accessories such as lights, lasers, vertical foregrips, etc.

The lower is made by Anderson, a proven manufacturer of quality AR-15 products for decades. It has a winter trigger-guard installed, which can be opened up so that the trigger can be fired even with mittens on (yes, the US military issues mittens).

The stock is 6-position adjustable for optimum comfort and control, and has a slot for the attachment of a sling. The buttplate has a rubber pad for excellent shoulder grip, and is removable to reveal storage compartments inside the stock.
