Today we have an M1871/88 Dutch Beaumont-Vitali for sale.  This rifle was produced in 1874.  Chambered for 11.3x52R.  These rifles are a unique part of history!  These were introduced during a time when firearm advancements were progressing faster than manufacturing capabilities.  This rifle actually started life as a black powder, bolt action, single shot.  After developments in the cartridge it fired new sights had to be added.  The Dutch then wanted to make it a repeating firearm, so they added a Vitali box magazine, hence the hyphenated name.  This firearm is in good shape for its age!  One of the most impressive things about this rifle is how good of shape the bore is in!  The action cycles smoothly.  The receiver, bolt, barrel, box magazine, have some wear on the finish, but very little pitting anywhere on the rifle.  There is some pitting around the safety and rear sight base.  The barrel bands have a nice patina, with some small pits.  Sling loops are in good condition.  The crown is in pretty good shape.  Sights are intact and function properly.  All roll marks and stamps on the metal are in great shape.  The buttplate is rusty, but not in terrrible shape.  The stock is pretty good shape having normal usage and wear for the age.  The cartouches on the buttstock are in pretty leglible shape.  It is evident where modifications were made to this rifle over the years next to the box magazine.  This triangular cut/fill is completely normal (reference photos).  On the other side of the box magazine there is a crack in the stock, however not very big.  Does not have a ramrod with the weapon.
