We have a used Smith & Wesson Model 1917 Commercial for sale. This revolver comes chambered in .45 ACP with a 5.5" barrel. This comes as shown in pictures as far as we can is numbers matching from the grip, cylinder, and barrel. Born out of the necessities of war, the .45 Hand Ejector M1917 was developed by S&W at the request of the U.S. government, to produce a revolver capable of firing the recently adopted .45 caliber Colt automatic-pistol cartridge. When in 1917 the U.S. entered what would come to be known as World War I, the U.S. Army was sorely lacking in issuable weapons. This is a commercially produced model with the serial number 181XXX. The U.S. government contract Smith & Wesson 1917 revolvers had serial numbers between 1 and 175100, they should have U.S. property markings on the bottom of the barrel and U.S. army marking on the bottom of the butt. After the war S&W 1917 revolvers were sold commercially. This is in Very Good Used Condition. Overall we would grade at approx 98%. Check out the pictures and feel free to call or email with any questions.
