Barrel signed by S. Shillito in script. Samuel Shillito was born in Chambersburg Pa. 1794 & died 1852. Worked 1825-1835 in McConnellsburg Pa. and 1836-1852 in Chambersburg. 39" octagon barrel in .41 caliber. Double set triggers, full curly maple stock of exceptionally fine regimental stripped wood with 18 engraved silver inlays. Large panel on left side of stock of Rococo scrolls executed in shallow relief. To the rear and above the lock plate is a wide (3\4") conforming inlay of silver. Brass four piece engraved patch box filling the right side of the butt-stock of the exact school of the Bedford School of Riflemakers. Ca. 1830
