As Back To Basics as You Can Get!

Step into the Wayback Machine and go back to the beginning of the AR-15 with our BRN-Proto® - a faithful replica of the Eugene Stoner’s very first AR-15 prototype. If you're an AR-15 aficionado or collector, the BRN-Proto® is a rifle you should not be without! Based on AR-15 Serial Number One, the Brownells BRN-Proto® sports a wealth of unique, historically accurate features you will not see on later AR-15 / M16 models.

First, the BRN-Proto® has the distinctive trigger-like charging handle on top of the receiver, under the carry handle, just like the early AR-10 models (remember, the AR-15 was developed second.). It has the uncluttered “slick-side” upper receiver of the early rifles and stock, handguard, and pistol grip of brown reinforced polymer that replicates the look - but not the weaknesses - of the original fiberglass furniture. If the round cross-section handguard looks oversized, that's because it is. Just as the original was a "borrowed" AR-10 'guard, it's actually lifted from our BRN-10® .308 rifles!

The matte gray, anodized receiver - correct color for early rifles - is fitted with a skinny A1-profile barrel capped off with the early three-prong "duckbill" flash suppressor, just like the originals. The BRN-Proto's front sight base mirrors that of the Number 1 prototype, with a lower profile than we're used to seeing. The windage-adjustable A1-type rear sight drum is nestled right inside the carry handle.

Each BRN-Proto® comes with one 25-round steel bodied magazine, a distinctive replica of the original that Brownells has designed and manufactured specifically for this rifle. You will not find this early magazine available from any other AR-15 manufacturer.

Up for sale is this brand new, never fired FNH SCAR 17S Heavy 7.62 x 51mm NATO rifle. It is unique due to the X Products lower I had a Master Gunsmith install last week. This allows the rifle to accept Magpul SR25 magazines. I am also including the original lower in case you decide you want it to be in "stock" form. I bought this during the pandemic because I wanted a 7.62 NATO rifle and this was the one and only 7.62 I could find. I have 5 rifles that are all brand new and never fired in their original shipping box, just like this one is. Full retail is $1,988 + $240 for the lower that accepts SR25 magazines. I am selling this rifle at a pretty substantial loss, then add in what Armslist takes and I'll be out close to $1.000. My loss is your gain. The Faxon ARAK-21 is a revolutionary rifle system that combines the best features of the AR-15 and AK-47 platforms into a single, versatile firearm.

Tthe ARAK-21 features a dual reciprocating upper assembly, which allows the shooter to swap barrels quickly and easily, without the need for specialized tools or equipment. This innovative design also eliminates the need for a buffer tube, resulting in a more compact and lightweight rifle.

The upper BAU is comprised of the barrel, gas block, muzzle brake, gas piston, gas adjuster, and barrel trunnion. The only removable part of this assembly is the gas adjuster knob. The gas adjuster knob has 4 settings. Three of the settings allow different gas flows for optimum operation, and one setting blocks the gas flow for a single shot operation.

Faxon ARAK-21 rifles are available in a range of configurations, including 5.56 NATO, 300 Blackout, and 7.62x39mm. They also feature a variety of barrel lengths and finishes, as well as options for left-handed shooters.

Note: I'm planning to upgrade the hammer spring soon. AR milspec has a habit of not igniting hard primers as often found on 7.62x39 ammo. Current price reflects this work yet to be done. When I've completed the upgrade, price will increase. So act quickly if you chose to do the work yourself or would prefer an different upgrade of your own choosing.
