Enfield No1 MK3 rifles set up for grenade launching. The wire wrapping was used to help reinforce the rifles from the recoil of launching grenades. These look to be refurbished by RFI/GRI. RFI markings on an Enfield No. 1 Mk III rifle signify it was refurbished or produced at the Rifle Factory, Ishapore, India, often after WWII, indicating Indian military service, with common examples being "RFI" stamped with a refurb date (like 1952) on the butt socket, sometimes replacing older "GRI" (George Rex Imperator) marks. These markings reveal an Indian post-colonial history, showing later Indian Army or Police use, with original British markings often scrubbed and re-stamped.
