This is an original Krag carbine barreled receiver that was restocked with a cut down rifle stock with an 1897 cartouche, and the circled script, proof P. All original parts. The bore is brighter than the rifling. The rifling is good enough to make a decent shooter. Most of these carbines were heavily used and shot out. Has the Model 1896 rifle rear sight. No handguard. There are repros made and available. The rifle functions as it should with the "buttery smooth" action that Krags are known for. This will make an inexpensive carbine for someone who cannot afford a $3,500 all original specimen No FFL is needed, WHERE LEGAL, as this is an antique.
